The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU) Ado Ekiti, Prof Joseph Ayodele, has been urged to go against all odds and make tough decisions to reposition the institution for academic excellence.

The Chairman of the Ekiti state chapter of the university’s alumni association, Mr Adetunji Aribasoye, gave the charge when he led his team on a courtesy visit to the new Vice-chancellor.

Aribasoye congratulated Prof Ayodele on behalf of the Excos and all chapter members on his emergence as the 9th substantive EKSU Vice-Chancellor for rising to his new position.

While noting that the task could be challenging, he said, “Do not hesitate to make hard decisions that will revamp the institution without minding whose ox is gored.”

The body also used the opportunity to make some demands and call the VC’s attention to some issues, including restructuring the institution’s postgraduate study, with students who should spend no less than two years spending more than five years.

“The chapter wishes to project the College to the world to bring in more students and boost the internally generated revenue of the University in the long run. In addition, we recommend.

A whistle-blower policy that will allow students to have seamless access to give relevant information with genuine evidence to the Vice-chancellor without the fear of being victimised or molested”.

In his response, the vice-chancellor appreciated the chapter of Excos and Dipo Bamisaye, the global president of alumni engineering, for all the support and encouragement he received to become the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Prof Ayodele, who expressed confidence that he would continue enjoying their support as an alumni member of the institution, said God’s diligence, hard work, and faith helped him in his pursuit. He admonished the chapter Excos to put their administration into God’s hands to achieve all their goals and vision.
