Abia First Lady Seeks RoLAC2 Partnership To End GBV

Wife of Abia State governor, Mrs Pricilla Otti has solicited partnership with the European Union-funded Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) programme phase 2 to end gender-based violence in the state.
Mrs Otti made the appeal at a stakeholders’ meeting with officials of the programme in Umuahia, the state capital, describing the selection of the state for the programme as a welcome development.

Represented by the commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Ngozi Felix, the first lady assured that the government would provide an enabling environment and support the programme to succeed.
She commended the union for the programme which is to be executed by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance.

In his remarks, the commissioner for justice and attorney general of the state, Mr Uwana Ikechukwu noted that the programme is in tandem with the present administration’s agenda on the rule of law.
Similarly, the state chief judge, Justice Lilian Abai, assured of the preparedness of the ministry to partner the programme to ensure the application of the rule of law and anti-corruption fight.

The head of the programme, Mr Danladi Plang expressed the hope that the programme would contribute to consolidating anti-corruption reforms in the country.
On his part, the programme manager, Mr Emmanuel Uche said the programme is expected to assist in regulating institutional vulnerability to corruption and strengthen accountability.
