FRSC Boss Knocks Reckless Drivers As 19 Die In Kwara Accident


The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed has expressed displeasure over drivers’ recklessness in flouting traffic regulations which led to the death of 19 persons Thursday night in Kwara State.

The Corps Marshal, while speaking in the wake of a fatal road traffic crash that occurred at Kanbi village on the Olooru new Jebba Road, said preliminary investigation revealed that the crash was due to excessive speed and wrongful overtaking.


The accident which occurred at exactly 8pm on Thursday, June 13, 2024, involved a blue Iveco trailer with no trace of registration and a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number LSD363YE.

A total of 25 people were involved in the accident, comprising of 13 male adults, five female adults, two female children and five male children.

Five persons, including three male and two female adults were injured, while 19 others comprising 11 male adults, 3 female adults, 3 male children, and 2 female children lost their lives to the incident.

FRSC’s spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, further revealed that the injured victims have been rescued and taken to Orisun Ayo hospital and that one corpse was deposited at the morgue of the same hospital while the remaining 18 dead bodies were claimed by their families.
