Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS) has released its first quarter 2024 Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) figures.

In a report by the agency’s group head of tax operations, Aminu Bawa, it said a total of N7,031,981,398.93 was collected for the months of January, February and March 2024.

Bawa said, “This marks a significant improvement from the total sum of N2,605,507,197.15 collected for the corresponding period in 2023, representing a 170 percent growth in the amount generated in comparative terms between Q1 2023 and Q1 2024”.

Speaking on the development, the executive chairman of the NGSIRS, Mohammed Etsu, told journalists that this development was a result of the robust support received from the governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago, and the different strategies deployed by the management of the service.

He stated that the immense support received from the new administration resulted in the service generating a total of N21,675,361,059.11 as total collections for the Year 2023, as against the total sum of N16,848,325,487.70 collected in the Year 2022.

Etsu assured the people that the service was on course to deliver on its Year 2024 Budgetary IGR target of N5 billion per month, as all mechanisms are being put in place to achieve the set target.
