Stakeholders Seek FG’s Intervention To Fix Lapai-Agaie-Bida Road

The Niger South Senior Stakeholders have called on the federal government to intervene and ensure swift completion of the Lapai-Agaie-Bida road to curb the rising number of accidents on the route.

Chairman of the forum, Dr. Mohammed Kudu Santuraki, the Santurakin Nupe, made the call in a statement yesterday.

He said despite the recent rehabilitation of the Lambata-Lapai road, the deteriorating condition of the Lapai-Agaie-Bida section has resulted in significant loss of lives in recent times.

Santuraki made a poignant reference to a recent tragic road accident on the Lapai-Agaie road, which resulted in the loss of 13 precious lives.

He particularly noted the heartbreaking loss of three members from the same family, emphasizing the urgent need for attention to be focused on rehabilitating this critical road.

The Santuraki said: “Tragically, one Alhaji Adamu Ndace lost  two wives and his eldest daughter in a horrific accident on the Lapai-Agaie road recently. Another daughter is currently in the hospital recovering. In total, about 13 lives were lost in that single accident.

“This tragedy underscores the urgency of fixing our roads—an issue I recently raised regarding the federal government’s budget proposal for road repairs in Niger State. Bad roads claim lives daily, and because every human life is valuable, fixing all roads must be a priority.”
