A Nigerian lady in the diaspora has wowed many after she insisted her name should be pronounced correctly during her graduation ceremony in the U.S.

The young lady was on the podium to receive her degree, when the commencement announcer pronounced her name wrongly. Immediately, she corrected the Caucasian woman by spelling out her name in syllables.

Following an attempt the woman couldn’t pronounce the lady’s name correctly, hence, she allowed the lady to pronounce her name using the microphone.

The Nigerian lady, who is from the Yoruba tribe identifies as Oluwatamilore Osileti

The video captioned,

Never let these schools Mispronounce your names i love that she allowed her to say it herself literally beautiful name for a beautiful graduate ❤️”

In no time, Nigerians have flooded the comment section, stating that Caucasians should learn to pronounce African names correctly as Africans make an effort to pronounce theirs properly. Many opined that the Caucasian woman was meant to have learned the correct pronunciation of every graduate’s name before the day of the ceremony.

Some netizens have applauded the Nigerian lady for insisting her name was pronounced correctly while others criticized her for mispronouncing her name even after correcting the commencement speaker.
