Veekee James Married Her Husband For Content — Jaruma

Controversial self-proclaimed sex therapist, Hauwa Mohammed, popularly known as Jaruma, has made headlines once again, this time claiming that popular fashion designer and content creator, Victoria James, also known as Veekee James, married her husband, Mr. Femi Atere, for the sake of content creation.

In a recent interview on the ‘Issues and Society’ podcast, Jaruma, known for selling aphrodisiacs and intimacy products, drew comparisons between her own experience and Veekee James’ marriage.

She implied that James’ marriage is more of a strategic move for online content rather than a union of love.

“Just like I said before, people rent husbands, they hire husbands, more like what Veekee James is doing now. You hire a husband so that you can be using him for content, that’s what Veekee James is doing now, and that’s what Jaruma has been doing for you guys since 2015,” she said.

When pressed by the interviewer on whether she was directly stating that Veekee James married her husband for content, Jaruma attempted to walk back her comments. “I didn’t say she did, but that’s what it looks like. You know, they call him Mr. Veekee James, so she’s the husband, he’s the wife. The same way they said about me too,” she remarked.

Jaruma, who was married to Ross Fahad Isabor between 2018 and 2021, previously faced intense scrutiny from the northern community for selling sex products as a single woman.

She explained that societal pressure motivated her to marry Isabor, stating, “There was a massive heat from the north because I was selling sex products as a single lady. It wasn’t easy at all.

“I didn’t get married because of love or because I was into the man or had a long courtship,” she confessed, revealing that she married him just one month after meeting to escape the public pressure. “I told him the reason I got married to him, he knew it was not for love but for the pressure.”

In 2022, Ross Isabor publicly confirmed their divorce on Instagram, warning Jaruma to stop using his name to promote her products.

In a shocking revelation during the interview, Jaruma also opened up about her struggles with drug addiction. She recounted how she was introduced to hard drugs by a friend, starting with marijuana and later escalating to more severe substances.

She shared a terrifying experience with drug injections, recalling how one incident nearly claimed her life. “One time I got fed up and I just wanted to die. I injected myself with 10 doses. When my workers found me, I was not breathing.”

She described the horrific sight of blood gushing from her wrist after injecting into a major vein and seeing herself in a white environment as doctors tried to revive her.

The interview highlighted her long battle with substance abuse, leading to her near-death experience and eventual rumours of being in rehabilitation in Abuja in 2023. “Next thing, I just saw myself in a white environment with big machines and doctors trying to bring me back to life. And I said, I am still not dead?” she recounted.

Jaruma’s revelations have reignited conversations around her personal life and career, adding to her already controversial reputation in the media.
