Voters Exercise Civic Duties Amid Rainfall

Voters in the ongoing Edo State governorship election on Saturday defied the morning rainfall to exercise their civic right at the New Benin Ministry of Education Ward 6, Unit 11, Oredo local government area, where the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Olumide Akpata, cast his vote.

The cloudy weather gave way to rainfall at about 10:36am, but determined voters, who hid under canopies provided at the polling centre, took turns to exercise their civil duties amid tight security.

Many voters were seen with their umbrellas trooping in and exiting the polling centre.

However, at Ward 2, Unit 39, Oredo Model Primary School of Oredo local government area of the State visited by our correspondent at 11:13am, voting activities were disrupted by the rain.

INEC officials, however, attributed the low voting activities to the rain, saying a higher number of voters was recorded earlier before rain started.
