Don’t Disappoint Your Parents, UDUS VC Urges Matriculating Students

The vice-chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof Lawal Suleiman has urged the matriculating students of the university to avoid indulging in social vices that could truncate their academic programmes.

He enjoined the freshers to be diligent in their studies so that their parents and families would not be disappointed at the end.

The VC gave the admonition in his address during the 44th matriculation ceremony of the university held at the convocation square of the school, asserting that the institution is a nurturing ground for future leaders who will create impact in the world.

“Say no to examination misconduct; no to cultism because they are evil. Remember that indiscipline can hinder one’s overall growth and success.

“Obey rules and regulations of the university; uphold and promote the noble ideals, principles, and those values for which this prestigious university is known for.

“This great institution has long stood as a symbol of academic excellence and a nurturing ground for future leaders. The degrees of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University are only awarded to deserving students who are found to be worthy in character and learning.

“Do not disappoint yourselves, your parents, your families, your state, your country and of course, humanity. Let the nurturing hands of UDUS pass through you so that at the end you will be a liberated human being,” he stated.

He urged them to refrain from spreading fake, threatening and unverified news particularly on social media.
