Ex-Katsina Governor Shema Decamps To APC

Former Katsina State governor, Ibrahim Shema, has officially decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was issued a membership card at the Shema ward party office in Dutsinma by the state chairman of the APC, Sani Aliyu.

While receiving Shema to the APC at the government house in Katsina, Governor Umaru Radda described his defection as a homecoming and a reunion with political family members in the state.

He then reflected that both Shema and the immediate past governor, Aminu Masari, once served under the leadership of the late former President Musa Yar’Adua, explaining that though the two leaders were once separated by certain circumstances and individual goals, they are now back on the same side.

He called on other patriotic citizens to join hands in repositioning the state for greatness, affirming that his doors are open to anyone willing to contribute to the state’s development.

Earlier, the state chairman of the APC, Alhaji Sani Daura, commended Governor Radda and Masari for their role in securing the defection of the influential figure and pledged equal treatment for the former governor just like every other party member.

The defection of former Governor Shema was long expected considering the roles he played during the last governorship and state assembly elections where he was accused alongside his loyalists of anti-party activities by the PDP.

Shema once threatened to leave the party after the national working committee sanctioned him and others for anti-party activities after the 2023 general election.
