Russia Begins Drills With Non-strategic Nuclear Weapons

The Russian Government has announced the first phase of military exercises with non-strategic nuclear weapons.

The military exercise, which began on Tuesday in Russia, was made known by the press office of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.

“In accordance with the instructions of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Southern Military District, under the guidance of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the first phase of exercises began with the practical study of preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons,” the ministry said.

The Ministry said further that the missile formations of the Southern Military District will practise preparation for launching missiles of the Iskander operational tactical system.

It added that Russian Aerospace Forces personnel will practise equipping aviation assets, including hypersonic missile systems Kinzhal.

It was not clear yet what the exercises were meant to achieve, but they are sure to ruffle feathers in the US considering the ongoing brutal war with Ukraine.
